Rodger & Steve - Freight Train (Elizabeth Cotten) perfomed by Rodger Bennett and Steve Blechschmidt
Dirtman - Warning… this song might make you feel uneasy. The song was put on my heart to write. As I was observing people's actions during these divided times, I realized two paths' people take. Some people form an opinion, then shout out their “answers”. This approach can abuse and de-humanize others. In contrast, there seems to be people who remain quiet and respond to an external tug to help others regardless of their opinions (think the World Central Kitchen folks). The song follows Mississippi John Hurt's style, one of my favorite musicians - just one guitar, one vocal, and thoughtful lyrics. No studio tricks. Released April 2024.
5 of my favorite originals - Soft Between Us, Dirtman, Lifestyle Blues, Letter From an Old Friend, Christ's Glory (Pandora playlist). The songs share a common theme and may be helpful to the listener in our divided times.
My break playlist - When I play live, the music never stops. During my breaks, these songs jump right in (Spotify Playlist named fingerstyle americana)
